Striking a balance with life under lockdown

Recently I wrote about my positive life changes during lockdown but like everything in life, there is always a flip side and there are a few things that I have let slip and which have steadily got on my nerves. Continue reading “Striking a balance with life under lockdown”

My positive life changes during lockdown

Strictly I was never fully locked down during these last three months being classed as a “key worker” I continued to go to work so I never felt completely holed up in the house like many other people. However, I have used this time to make some positive changes to my life and although I am sharing those changes here I am in no way saying you have to follow these. That would be me being a dictator. Jetlagged

Having come off a set of night shifts the coffee is keeping me (barely) operating so I’ll do my best to appear coherent. We have had a move round in the house this weekend creating a better office space for my wife to work from home. Continue reading “Jetlagged”

Cold turkey through writer’s block

Recently I have struggled on a daily basis to think of things to write about online. I cannot use the excuse of not having any spare time to blog as I have had more than enough time on my hands recently. Facing up to writing an original post has been like looking up a mountain. I just couldn’t bring myself to type the words. Continue reading “Cold turkey through writer’s block”

Meeting my dad for the first time since lockdown

Thanks to the slight easing of the lockdown restrictions in the UK I was able to meet another person not from my family as long as it was in a public space. I grabbed the opportunity to visit my 82 year old dad and arranged a walk around his local park for a catch up. Continue reading “Meeting my dad for the first time since lockdown”

Monday Monday

Monday so far has seen me be slightly grumpy and very tired after several early starts working the weekend. Add some alcohol in the form of cold beers yesterday evening and you could probably add sluggish to grumpy and tired. I had achieved the grand total of hoovering the house and tinkering with my blogs theme so far this morning. I glance up at the clock on the kitchen wall and it’s already 1pm, time waits for no man they say. Continue reading “Monday Monday”

Overthinking

As the title suggests I am massively guilty of overthinking when it comes to writing and blogging. In fact, I have just had a whatsapp conversation with a mate of mine about the very subject. Far too often I come up with writing ideas and within seconds have talked myself out of writing with any number of reasons why not to publish. Instead I should take my friends advice and just write.

Endlessly scrolling

After working all weekend I now find myself off for the majority of the week something I have been looking forward to for a while now, four whole days off and the weather continues to be behaving too in the UK which makes things all the better. Continue reading “Endlessly scrolling”

Diary of our lockdown – Part 2

Here I document the second part of my time off work in lockdown in the UK. You can read how my first few days off went here, we had DIY haircuts and DIY around the house too so here is how the rest of the week went. Continue reading “Diary of our lockdown – Part 2”

Diary of our lockdown – Part 1

Being a key worker has meant my sanity has remained intact by getting out of the house, seeing people at work and avoiding looking at the same four walls all day. We decided not to cancel our week off work instead take advantage of some time away from work and feel like the rest of the population in lockdown. I thought it would be a good idea to diary my nine days off in lockdown, maybe I will look back at it in years to come fondly or otherwise? Continue reading “Diary of our lockdown – Part 1”
